Abeokuta North Local Government Akomoje in Ogun State has officially proscribed open rearing, grazing of livestocks and houses without toilet in the Area.
The Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Dr. ‘Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo recently reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing this law, following increased reports of farmland destruction, unrest in the communities and traffic obstruction and the likes caused by cattle herders in the Local Government need to instantly end. That the obstinate practices in the communities of the Local Government Area has become unacceptable now and unbearable to the residents.
Oyegbola-Sodipo deposited that in September 30 , 2021, the Governor of Ogun State has signed into the Law Anti-Open Grazing which prohibit the open rearing and grazing of livestocks in any part of the State , reiterated that anyone found in the act would be brought to book
He added that significant complaints of letters had been officially received by the Local Government of hazard the cattle rearer and livestocks owners are portending to the neighborhoods in the communities of the Local Government as well as critical observation has been clandestinely viewed in the communities of Abeokuta North Local Government that some houses do not have toilet.
He stated that Task Force has been established to enforce environmental and health regulations within the Local Government Area to fine or arrest the cupable ones of the government directive.
Outrightly stated that, “In line with efforts to improve sanitation and maintain a clean environment, residents are reminded that all houses must have functional toilets. Additionally, livestock owners are advised to keep their animals within designated areas and refrain from allowing them to roaming freely in public spaces”.
He strongly said that any flouted resident or Defaulter would face penalties, including fines, and may be subject to legal action. While urging all the dwellers in the Local Government to comply the directive to avoid sanctions.
