OBAFEMI OWODE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FLAG OFF YEAR 2026 STATEWIDE MASS VACCINATION AGAINST TRANS-BOUNDARY ANIMAL DISEASES

In a bid to curtail the spread of Trans-boundary Animal Diseases in Ogun State, Obafemi Owode Local Government has hosted the Official Flag off of the distribution of vaccination of Animals, livestock and free anti rabies injection as a take off of the exercise.

Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola,FCPA, Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government ably represented by the Secretary to Local Government, Hon. Kayode Dipeolu commended the State Government for chosen Obafemi Owode as the location for the flag off, having considered the population, the economic impact, and its strategic position as a major livestock farmers in the state.
He assured of the involvement of the local government, support, and cooperation of the farmers, as he enjoined the people to use the opportunity of this year 2026 Statewide Mass Vaccination Campaign Against Trans-boundary Animal Diseases and Free Anti rabies injection for dogs.

Declaring the exercise open,Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ogun State, Hon. Bolu Owootomo explained that Trans-boundary Disease is a serious economic and public health risk but preventable as the state government, in cojunction with the federal government is determined to curb the spread, as the state government is targeting 200,000 Livestock vaccination and Free Anti rabies injection for household dogs.

He stressed that Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security were able to vaccinate about 100,000 livestock last year due to the magnanimity of His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, as Trans-boundary vaccination is a shared responsibility, more reasons Obafemi Owode Local Government was specifically chosen for the flag off due to its strategic position as a major Livestock transit getaway in Ogun State.

He further encouraged full participation in the exercise, while he acknowledged the benefit of an healthy Livestock sector as a driving wheel of economy, job creation, poverty reduction and enhanced food security, after he performed an injection of a dog out of packs brought for the Free anti rabies injection, being flanked by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Dipeolu.

Others present at the flag off includes, Hon. Muyiwa Ojebiyi, Supervisor for Agriculture,bMs. Olufunke Adeniji, Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Taiwo Oluwole Jolaoso, Director of Veterinary Services, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Kayode Alebiosu, Director of Agriculture and Food Security, Obafemi Owode Local Government.
