The Abeokuta North Local Government has issued a 15-day ultimatum to all individuals, businesses and other persons currently occupying or laying claim to portions of Local Government land at Ita-Oshin Garage, calling on them to appear before the Local Government authorities to substantiate their claims and regularize their occupation or risk forfeiture and other appropriate legal action.

‎The Local Government authorities stated that the land in question is the property of Abeokuta North Local Government, adding that the Council is in possession of relevant documentation establishing its interest and ownership of the property, including a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).

‎The authorities expressed concern over the manner in which some individuals and businesses, including a petrol filling station operating on the premises, gained access to the land and commenced development without the knowledge or authorization of the Local Government.
‎Consequently, the Local Government is calling on all persons currently occupying, developing or laying claim to the affected property to report to the Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat within Fifteen (15) Days of this publication with all relevant documents and evidence supporting their claims to the land.

‎The Local Government further advised persons whose interests may be legitimate but whose occupation or documentation is yet to be regularized to avail themselves of the opportunity to seek appropriate ratification and regularization in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

‎The Council warned that failure to respond to the notice within the stipulated period, or inability to establish a valid claim to the property, may result in the revocation of any unauthorized occupation, forfeiture of interests arising from such occupation, removal of unauthorized structures where legally permissible, and/or other appropriate legal action by the Local Government.

‎The Local Government therefore urges all affected persons to treat this notice with the seriousness it deserves and to comply within the stipulated period in order to avoid unnecessary legal consequences.

‎Abeokuta North Local Government remains committed to protecting its assets, ensuring proper land administration and safeguarding public property for the benefit of the people.
