As the 2027 General Elections draw closer and political parties intensify consultations and mobilisation across communities, groups, associations and other stakeholders, the Obafemi Owode Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) has unanimously declared its total support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates across board.

The declaration was made during the grand opening ceremony of the newly constructed CDC Multipurpose Hall and Secretariat in Owode, a landmark facility fully funded and constructed by community development practitioners within the Obafemi Owode Zonal CDC without government intervention.

Speaking at the event, the Zonal CDC Chairman, Engr. Adeleke Adegboyega, said the decision to support the APC was based on the party’s leadership and its commitment to development, as well as the remarkable contributions of its candidates to the people.

He particularly commended the Senator representing Ogun West, Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, for his contributions to infrastructural development, women empowerment, social engagement and community welfare across Ogun State.

According to him, Sen. Adeola’s achievements demonstrate a clear understanding of governance and effective representation, adding that the CDC has confidence in his leadership capacity and his ambition to reposition Ogun State for greater progress and sustainable development.

Addressing the gathering, Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI commended the Obafemi Owode Zonal CDC for becoming the first CDC in the area to construct a self-funded secretariat and multipurpose hall without government intervention.

He expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, for his support and role in his emergence as the APC gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State after what he described as a challenging process.

Sen. Adeola further reiterated his commitment to improving the infrastructural landscape of Obafemi Owode Local Government, describing the area as a strategic business hub because of its proximity to Lagos and other neighbouring states, as well as its enormous economic potential.

He stated that Urban and Regional Development is one of the key pillars of his blueprint, assuring that Obafemi Owode Local Government would benefit significantly from the implementation of the programme.

As part of his support for the community, Sen. Adeola donated 50 solar-powered streetlights to the Zonal CDC Secretariat, alongside other gifts.

Also speaking, the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Sen. Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, commended the leadership of the Obafemi Owode Zonal CDC for its initiative and vision in constructing the facility through community-driven efforts.

He urged the people to continue supporting the APC and specifically called for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI; himself, Sen. Shuaib Salisu; Hon. Olumide Osoba; and Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode to their respective federal and state legislative positions.

In the same vein, the Member representing Obafemi Owode/Ifo Federal Constituency, Hon. Olumide Osoba, assured the CDC and the people of his continued commitment to facilitating infrastructural development and other interventions that would benefit communities, CDAs and CDCs across the local government.

Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, announced the approval of a dedicated bus stop for the Zonal CDC Secretariat, describing the initiative as another step towards supporting community development and improving accessibility to the facility.

The event was attended by community leaders, CDC and CDA executives, traditional leaders, political stakeholders, government officials and other residents who joined in celebrating the achievement and reaffirming their commitment to community development and good governance.
