AMB.OGUNSOLA URGES OBAS TO STAY CLEAR OF LAND GRABBING AT THE CONFERMENT OF OFFICE.

Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has commended the Ogun State Government for the selection and confirmation of four Obas-Elect in the Obafemi Owode Local Government. This commendation occurred during the official presentation of the staff of office to the Coronet Onimakogi of Makogi land, His Royal Highness, Oba Babatunde Akanni Sonola, as well as to Oba Modiu Ademuyiwa Alalade, the First Onimagboro of Magboro Akeran land, Oba Kolawole Ibrahim Akinyele, the Olu of Orile Itori-Odo and Oba Lisoyi Olukayode Adeyemi,Olu Ibukun Aro.

In his address, the Chairman expressed gratitude for the maturity, cooperation, and orderliness exhibited by the residents of the four communities throughout the selection process. He urged the Obas-Elect to demonstrate magnanimity in their victory.

Furthermore, he advised the four Obas-Elect to refrain from engaging in land grabbing, a practice that has become increasingly rampant. He emphasized the importance of avoiding any actions that could cause chaos during their reign and encouraged them to foster peace within their respective domains.

The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of Ogun State, Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, expressed his satisfaction during the presentation of the staff of office to HRH Oba Babatunde Akanni Sonola, the First Onimakogi of Makogi land.

He commended the peaceful conduct exhibited by the residents of Makogi throughout the process that elevated the status of the serving chiefs to that of an Oba. This behavior reflects the Makogi community’s commitment to peace and their prioritization of regional development over personal interests.

He further informed the Kabiyesis that their appointment signifies a call to serve the community, emphasizing the expectation for him to champion initiatives that will promote harmonious coexistence with neighboring communities.

Furthermore, he encouraged the Kabiyesi to foster collaboration with other Royal Fathers in Egbaland and throughout Ogun State, thereby fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him by both the community and the Ogun State Government.

He equally highlighted that Kabiyesi’s authority is limited to that of a Coronet Oba, which prohibits him from installing any Baale within or around his community.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ogun State, Dr. Rotimi Olu Akinlesi, who represented the Honorable Commissioner during the presentations of the staff of office to His Royal Highnesses Oba Modiu Ademuyiwa Alalade, Onimagboro of Magboro, and Oba Kolawole Ibrahim Akinyele, Olu of Orile Itori-Odo, emphasized that the upgrading and selection process is in accordance to the provisions of the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law. He urged the monarchs to prioritize community development and to engage with all individuals as their subjects.
