Abeokuta North Local Government has reiterated its call on all individuals, businesses and other persons occupying, developing or laying claim to portions of the Local Government land at Ita-Oshin Garage to present themselves before the appropriate authorities of the Council and substantiate their claims with relevant documents.

‎

‎The reminder follows the earlier Press Release issued by the Local Government on 27th August 2026, in which affected persons were directed to report to the Council within fifteen (15) days to establish the legitimacy of their claims and regularize their occupation where applicable.

‎The Council wishes to emphasize that the affected land is claimed as the property of Abeokuta North Local Government, with relevant documentation, including a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), in its possession to establish its interest in the property.

The Local Government has expressed concern over the unauthorized occupation and development of portions of the land by certain individuals and businesses, including a petrol filling station operating on the premises, allegedly without the knowledge or approval of the Council.

Consequently, all affected persons are hereby reminded to report to the Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje, within the stipulated fifteen (15)-day period stated in the earlier notice, with all relevant title documents, approvals, receipts and other verifiable evidence supporting their claims to the property.

‎The Council further advises persons who may have legitimate interests in the land but whose documentation or occupation remains unregularized to take advantage of this opportunity to present their cases for appropriate verification and necessary action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Local Government warns that failure to respond to the notice or satisfactorily establish a legitimate claim may result in appropriate legal action. Such action may include the termination of unauthorized occupation, removal of unauthorized structures where legally permissible, and other lawful measures deemed necessary to protect the Council’s property and interests.

The Council therefore urges all affected persons to treat this reminder with the seriousness it deserves and comply with the directive to avoid unnecessary legal consequences.

‎Abeokuta North Local Government remains committed to protecting public assets, promoting proper land administration and ensuring that properties belonging to the Council are safeguarded for the benefit of the people.

‎Members of the public are advised to take due notice and be guided accordingly.
