ASSPPON OGUN CENTRAL CELEBRATES 2024 PRINTERS’ WEEK THEMED: “THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ON PRINTING INDUSTRY”

Association of Professional Printers’ of Nigeria Ogun Central has unanimously gathered to celebrate its 2024 printers’ week on Thursday 7th March, 2024 at NUT Hall Kuto, Abeokuta Ogun State.

Pastor Olubode Makinde Mcippn (Enny Owoh), ASSPPON Chairman Ogun Central who is also a Member of Chattered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) thanked all dignitaries present at the august occasion stated that the establishment of ASSPPON mainly hinged to ensure an holistic, close monitoring and professional production of sensitive material.

That, today, Nigeria is facing a lot of security challenges, Pastor Makinde in his appeal believes that printing not only comes with enormous responsibilities of transforming information into permanent form for mass production but to put lasting solution to social vices in the printing Industry.

He implored the State Governor, His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun for inclusiveness in his ongoing administration in the State.

“Your Excellency sir, i will be happy if Ogun State Government will create the Office of the Printer General or better still, to have a representative in the printing aspect during and after of the forthcoming 2024 Gateway Games”, Pastor Makinde mentioned.

Further expressed that the members have sophisticated equipments/machines that can produce desired results, however appealed to the State Government to patronize the certified members. Said, the profession has rooms for all kinds of youths, both educated and the uneducated alike as they could be trained on the job to man machine and work in the post -press section perfectly.

According to ASSPON Ogun State Chairman, ASSPON Nurudeen Olu Oyeneye frowned at non professionals in the business therefore urged private school proprietors, clerics, government officials to give their Jobs to professionals alone as there is going to be clampdown on anyone who transgresses the CHATTERED INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL PRINTERS OF NIGERIA ACT 2007 which restricted non licenced Printers from practicing the business

Earlier, the guest speaker, Chief (Dr.) Orunto Abiodun Lasile DL thoughtfully explained the “Impact of Digital Technology on Printing Industry” as the theme implies. Chief Orunto deeply enunciated that gone are the days when printing was only limited to traditional methods such as Offset Printing, added that, digital printing technologies businesses could now produce high-quality printed material in a fraction of the time.

He, therefore, advised the members during the intensive lecture to explore and embrace more on digital technologies because it drives new efficiencies and innovation in the industry.

Present at the occasion included: Engr. Babatunde Akeem Adesina, Special Adviser to Governor on Public Works, who was.later decorated as the Grand Patron of the Association, Hon. Adebola Sofela FCIT, FCIB, FCA, Commissioner for Industry Trade and investment who was represented by Deacon Lere, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi, Chairman Abeokuta South Local Government was also represented by the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu and lots more. While new Executives of the Association were voted for to paddle the leadership train for two years named: ASSPON Olubode Makinde; ASSPPON Chairman Ogun Central, Hon. Oyedele  Azeez; Vice- Chairman, ASSPPON Keshinro Tunde; Treasurer, ASSPPON Odeleye Abosede; Financial Secretary and ASSPPON Tawakalitu Ogunponla; Asst. Financial Secretary.
