Odeda Local Government has reiterated the need for residents, school authorities, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement or security concern to relevant authorities.
This resolution was reached during an emergency security stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Local Government following intelligence reports of planned kidnapping attacks targeted at school children and vulnerable communities within the Local Government Area, particularly border communities.
The meeting had in attendance representatives of conventional and non-conventional security agencies, including Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police Force, vigilante groups, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and other critical stakeholders.
Speaking during the meeting, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and that timely information from members of the public remains one of the most effective tools in preventing criminal activities.
Residents were strongly advised not to withhold useful information capable of assisting security agencies in detecting and preventing crimes.
Community members, school proprietors, head teachers, principals, parents, and guardians were particularly urged to remain observant and immediately report strange faces, suspicious movements, or unusual activities around schools and communities.

Furthermore, security agencies assured residents of their readiness to intensify surveillance, patrol operations, and intelligence gathering across identified flashpoints in order to guarantee the safety of lives and property.
While calling on the public to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, the Local Government reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all security stakeholders to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all residents.
