The Abeokuta North Local Government has issued a 15-day ultimatum to all individuals, businesses and other persons currently occupying, developing or laying claim to portions of Local Government land situated at Ita-Oshin Garage, directing them to appear before the Local Government authorities to present documents substantiating their claims and regularise their occupation.

The Local Government stated that the property in question is vested in Abeokuta North Local Government and that the Council is in possession of relevant documentation establishing its interest in the property, including a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).

The Council expressed concern over the circumstances under which some individuals and businesses, including a petrol filling station operating on the property, allegedly gained access to portions of the land and commenced development without the knowledge or authorisation of the Local Government.

Consequently, all persons currently occupying, developing or laying claim to any portion of the affected property are hereby directed to report to the Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat within fifteen (15) days from the date of this publication, with all relevant title documents, approvals, agreements, receipts and other evidence supporting their claims or interests in the property.

The Local Government further advises persons whose interests may have a legitimate basis but whose occupation or documentation has not been formally regularised to use the opportunity provided by this notice to present themselves for appropriate verification, ratification and regularisation, subject to applicable laws, regulations and the outcome of the verification process.

The Council warns that failure to respond within the stipulated period, or failure to establish a valid and legally recognisable interest in the property, may lead to the revocation of unauthorised occupation or interests, removal of unauthorised structures where legally permissible, and/or the institution of appropriate legal proceedings or other lawful enforcement measures by the Local Government.

The Abeokuta North Local Government therefore urges all affected persons to treat this notice with the seriousness it deserves and comply within the stipulated period to avoid unnecessary legal consequences.

The Council reiterates its commitment to protecting public assets, promoting responsible land administration, enforcing lawful development and safeguarding Local Government property for the benefit of the people of Abeokuta North.
